写真には、人の想いを伝え、物語を語り、歴史を残し、社会を映し出し、自分自身と向き合う力があります。
レベル 1 は6回のレッスンに渡って開催されます。

Nobechi Creativeフォトグラフィーセンターでは、カメラの操作方法だけではなく、「なぜ写真を撮るのか」「何を伝えたいのか」「どのように世界を見るのか」を大切にしています。写真を通して価値観が変わるかもしれません。そして人生その物が変わるかもしれません。
当フォトグラフィーセンターは、軽井沢を起点に写真家を育成してまいります。今後計画している次なるレベルでは、ナチュラルなポートレートの撮り方や、程よいレタッチの仕方や、アート・プリントの作り方、展示方法や世の中に写真を送り出すための準備までも教えます。
この講座では、写真を始めたばかりの方から経験者までを対象に、写真を見る力、考える力、そして表現する力を育てていきます。
カメラの種類や経験は問いません。
一人ひとりが自分らしい写真表現を見つけられるよう、少人数制で丁寧に指導します。

写真は、一生をかけて学び続けることのできる表現です。
その第一歩を修めた証として、全6セッションを修了された方には、Nobechi Creativeフォトグラフィーセンターより、「Photography Fundamentals: Learning to See（レベル1）」修了証を授与いたします。
この修了証は、本講座を修了し、「見る力」「考える力」「伝える力」という写真の土台を身につけた証です。
さらに、本講座は当センターの段階的な教育プログラムのスタート地点でもあります。レベル2以降の講座や、フォトウォーク、ポートフォリオ講評会、ゲスト講師による特別講座などを通して、写真を継続的に学んでいただけます。
スタッフ・プロフィール
野辺地 ジョージ
フォトグラファー
東京生まれ。軽井沢在住。日本人とカナダ人を両親に持つ写真家。カナダのブリティッシュコロンビア大学で歴史学・国際関係学の優等学士号を取得後、複数の大手金融機関で株式トレーダー兼マネージャーとして活躍。その後、写真家としての道を選び、現在はNobechi Creative のディレクターおよび軽井沢フォトフェスト（Karuizawa Foto Fest）の創設者・国際アンバサダーを務めています。
2014年、サム・エイベル、ケイト・ブレイキー、アーサー・マイヤーソン、ブレット・L・エリクソンをはじめとする世界的写真家との出会いをきっかけに、本格的に写真家として活動を開始。以来、日本を拠点に国内外で作品を発表し、イタリア、ドイツ、アメリカ、日本など各国で個展を開催してきました。静かな風景や人々の日常を見つめ、日本と欧米という二つの文化的背景を持つ視点から、「人」と「場所」の関係をテーマに作品を制作しています。
写真家として活動する一方で、教育にも力を注いでいます。ロサンゼルス・センター・オブ・フォトグラフィー（LACP）をはじめ、国内外でワークショップやフォトツアーを企画・指導し、世界各地から集まる初心者からプロフェッショナルまで、幅広いレベルの写真愛好家と学びの場を共有してきました。また、世界的に著名な写真家を日本へ招き、ワークショップやマスタークラスを数多くプロデュースしています。

PHOTOGRAPHY Fundamentals Level I – Learning to See
Photography is about far more than recording beautiful landscapes.
It allows us to preserve memories, tell stories, document history, express ideas, and better understand both the world around us and ourselves.
At the Nobechi Creative Photography Center, we believe that photography begins long before pressing the shutter. Great photographs start with curiosity, observation, and learning to truly see.
Whether you have just purchased your first camera or have been photographing for years, this course is designed to help you develop stronger visual awareness, creative confidence, and a deeper understanding of photographic storytelling.
Our small class sizes allow for individual attention, discussion, and constructive feedback in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Why We Photograph
Photography as memory, history, storytelling, and artistic expression
A brief history of photography
The work of influential photographers
Session 2
Reading Photographs
Learning how to look at photographs critically through discussion and constructive critique.
Homework
Research one iconic photographer and one contemporary photographer, and present why their work inspires you.
Session 3
What Makes a Great Photograph?
Topics include:

Field Workshop: Learning to See
Apply the concepts learned in class through guided photography in and around Karuizawa.
Homework
Compose & Recompose
Photograph the same subject repeatedly until you create your strongest image.
Three-Image Story
Tell a complete story using only three photographs.
Session 5
Building a Photo Essay
Learn how photographers create meaningful visual narratives through editing, sequencing, and series development.
Session 6
Editing, Sequencing & Presentation
Students present their assignments for discussion, editing, sequencing, and constructive group critique.
Certificate
Participants who successfully complete all six sessions will receive a Level I Certificate of Completion from the Nobechi Creative Photography Center.
This certificate recognizes the successful completion of the first course in our progressive photography curriculum and marks the beginning of a continuing journey through future levels, workshops, and masterclasses.
Meet Your Instructor
George Nobechi
George Nobechi is a Tokyo-born photographer, educator, and founder of Nobechi Creative and the Nobechi Creative Photography Center. He is also the Founder and International Ambassador of Karuizawa Foto Fest, a photography festival that brings some of the world's leading photographers to Japan.
George teaches photography workshops and educational programs in Japan and internationally, and has led courses for photographers of all experience levels. His photographs have been exhibited in Japan, Italy, Germany, Argentina, and the United States, among other nations, and his work explores the relationship between people and place through quiet observation and visual storytelling.
His passion is helping photographers learn not only how to use a camera, but how to see with greater curiosity, confidence, and purpose.

Photography Fundamentals: Learning to See is the first course in the Nobechi Creative Photography Center curriculum.
